About Judi and her royal portraits
I found out I could do a decent portrait doing caricatures of our teachers at Grammar School. I did several portraits in pencil in art classes as a six former doing A level History of Art. There I studied the Renaissance and Pre Raphaelites art periods and I revelled in their richness of lighting and drama.
As an 18 year old I did several local art exhibitions and offered 20 minute portraits to make pocket money and to cover my materials and expenses and through this I gained many more portrait commissions.
I was fortunate to get plenty of articles and features in magazines and did portrait paintings for magazine covers such as Woman's Own (see Princess Diana's image above).
I was approached to paint the late Lord Armstrong of Bamburgh Castle, this painting still to this day hangs in the main hall of Castle Howard, North Yorkshire and the film location of Bridgerton and many other period dramas.

Judi's Brush with Fame
I look back and see again so many pictures of my past work on the internet, did I paint that? – and I remember every brush stroke and feel quite satisfied with what I have managed to achieve! Plus three wonderful, talented children, 9 grandchildren and two great grandsons despite all the other stuff that interferes with one's life.
